Cultural events to benefit from council funding support

Nine cultural events across ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp are set to share funding of £90,000 following agreement at a meeting of the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee.

The events funded will take place across ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp:

  • Bute Noir
  • Cowal Highland Gathering
  • William Fife Classic Yacht Regatta
  • Helensburgh Winter Festival
  • Jura Music Festival
  • Mull of Kintyre Music Festival
  • Mull Rally
  • Tiree Wave Classic
  • Oban Games

The fund was launched in 2018 to enable organisations involved in the running of events and festivals to bid for financial support.

Following changes to the application process introduced by the Council earlier this year, the Fund now focuses on events which will generate the maximum economic value for ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp.

Ten applications were submitted to this year’s funding round and nine were approved.

Depute Policy Lead for Economic Growth, Councillor Jim Anderson said: “·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp is very fortunate in playing host to such a wide range of cultural events encompassing everything from literary and music festivals to Highland games and sport.

“The Fund is supporting events that are set to contribute significantly to the culture, heritage and economy of ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp, and will have a strong appeal for local, national and international audiences.â€

All the events receiving funding support will be held between 1st April 2020 and 28 Feb 2021.

Note: In a previously published version of this release, we stated that Carradale Music Festival had received an award from the fund. This was an error for which we apologise.
