Ƶapp transport gears up during July

Over the next week, and in line with national guidance, transport in Ƶapp will start to operate more normally.

North Pier Pontoons

Transit berth facilities at Oban North Pier are now open. Details on the will be found on the website and physical distancing measures will apply.

Ferry services

Capacity on council-run ferries will be increased to meet community demand, and guidelines on physical distancing, at this time. We have more details on the revised timetables on the council website.

Air services

Ƶapp Council’s Oban and the Isles Airports will reopen for scheduled flights, commercial charters and private pilots on 15 July. Flights from Oban to Coll, Colonsay and Tiree, can be booked through service operator , and are available from 15 July 2020.

However, things at our airports will be different as passengers will be expected to follow national guidance:

  • If you feel unwell or suspect you have any symptoms associated with COVID-19, do not travel or come to the airports;

  • Always wear a face covering when in any of the buildings;

  • Ensure that appropriate physical distancing is maintained;

  • Avoid contact with surfaces and wash your hands with hand sanitiser/soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds; and

  • Follow instructions given by staff.

Bus services

Local bus operators are also looking to return to normal services from 15 July onwards. Please visit their websites for details. All the operators' website addresses can be linked to from the council’s website.

Councillor Robin Currie, Policy Lead for Housing, Roads and Infrastructure Services, said: “The Scottish Government’s roadmap to easing lockdown restrictions is leading us to a new normal. Getting our transport networks back to regular timetables will support our residents and visitors to get around more freely and help our businesses open up.

“We must not be complacent at this time. Now, more than ever, we must pay attention to guidance that will keep everyone safe: wearing face coverings when appropriate, maintaining good hand hygiene and avoiding crowded areas.”
