·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council gives out £30 million in business grants

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council has given out £30 million in business grants, and is reminding businesses affected by COVID-19 that help is still available.

Staff from a range of council services have either refocused their work, or left their usual roles temporarily, to help deliver support to local businesses at this hugely difficult time.

The main area of activity involves the administration of Scottish Government business support schemes, which include rate reliefs and specific grants for small and medium sized businesses.

The council has approved a total of 2,916 applications so far. They include:

  • 374 for £7.5k grants

  • 2,362 for £10k grants

  • 15 for £18.75k grants

  • 165 for £25k grants.

The Scottish Government has announced that the Business Support Fund will close to applicants on 10 July.

Full details on support for businesses is available on the council website or contact the Caring for People helpline on 01546 605524   -  open 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri.

Leader of the council, Councillor Aileen Morton, said:

“Council staff have worked incredibly hard to help process grant applications and I’m pleased we have been able to give much needed support to as many local businesses as possible.

I would urge businesses who are struggling to get in touch with our helpline or visit the website where you’ll find a range of helpful resources.

We are working on recovery plans so that we are ready, as soon as restrictions are lifted, to take action to help businesses and communities move on and rebuild.â€
