When it comes to elections, where you vote is just as important as how you vote.
·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council is now running a formal review of its polling places and polling districts. All local authorities are required by law to carry out these reviews before January 2025.
The review will gather views on the suitability of polling districts (geographical sub-divided areas within the overall constituency). It will also seek feedback on the venues and rooms used as polling places. The results of the review will help to ensure that all voters in ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp have reasonable facilities for voting, as far as possible and practical. Accessibility of polling places, especially for those who have particular needs, is also an important consideration.
Various draft proposals for polling districts and polling places across ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp are listed online at Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2023-2025 | ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council (argyll-bute.gov.uk) and you can also view the relevant documents at local Customer Service Points. This includes changes to previous arrangements, so it is important to look at what is being proposed for your community. You can find any individual proposals for your local area listed on the web page above, along with a full list of current arrangements and the suggested changes.
If you want to have your say on your local polling district and the places that people in your community use to vote, please take part in the consultation. It starts on 2 October and runs until 30 October. You can share your views by emailing elections@argyll-bute.gov.uk or writing to The Election Office, ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council, Kilmory, Lochgilphead, ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp, PA31 8RT.
·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp Council will consider a report on the consultation at its November meeting and any changes that are agreed will be published from 1 December 2023.
